It is difficult to categorize V Nagdas into any specific genre and the artist also never bothered to stick to any particular style for very long. While his initial works were more figurative, he later abandoned figures to get to almost scenic abstractions only to return once again to figures. The metaphoric values of his works also changed from time to time. Sometimes his works can be found to lean more towards cubism and other western styles and sometimes more towards Indian motifs. One can similarly see an amazing range of colour palettes. The sheer range of medium that he has experimented with is also equally interesting. From painting with acrylic to pure oil works, to etching. V Nagdas has done them all.

As a professor himself, V Nagdas has many illustrious students who still come to him for advice and guidance. He is an immensely inspiring man and has organized many art camps, curate shows, held exhibitions and expounded ideas about contemporary art. Unlike many others, Nagdas has never differentiated between art practice and art pedagogy. Indeed they are both an integral part of his life.

The present exhibition however showcases only his recent works: paintings and etchings and drawings, each of which is thoughtfully sparse in hues and detailed in strong lines. Each works require seeing and pondering; in one look, the hidden ideas may not get revealed.
